Chanel bags
The House of Chanel was established in 1909 by Gabrielle ‘Coco’ Chanel. It first started as a shop on the ground floor of Balsan apartments where she sold decorative hats to patrons of the place and its visitors.
In 910 Coco Chanel transferred to 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. By 1913 Chanel introduced women sportswear at a new boutique in Deauville and Biarritz.
As World War I raged over Europe, Coco opened a larger shop o Rue Cambon in front of Hotel Ritz in Paris. She sold flannel blazers, straight linen, skirts, sailor taps, long jersey, sweaters and skirt-jackets.
By this time Chanel gained prominence for simple day dress and coat ensemble and black evening dresses in lace.
The coming years saw Chanel producing her first perfume, Chanel No.5. Eventually tying-up with French businessman Pierre Wertheimer for a much needed capital. However Coco Chanel would only get 10% share of the profits.
As expected Chanel company grew and as World War II engulfed all of Europe, Coco Chanel found it difficult to do business. Nevertheless she found love interest with a Nazi officer Hans Gunther von Dincklage.
Fearing reprisal for being a double agent after the war she went to Switzerland and continued her work in the fashion industry. In 1953 Coco Chanel went back to Paris and saw Christian Dior dominating the world of fashion.
Again she held talks with businessman Pierre Wertheimer who now controls Chanel Company in the tune of almost all of its shares. And she was given the position of its chief designer.
Chanel re-introduce Chanel suit and launched a quilted leather handbag called 2.55 together with Chanel men’s cologne Pour Monsieur. These products gave Chanel Company much profit and recognition the world over.

Fashion Ticker Tape
Chanel bags
It has always been the result that every time economic cycle hits depression stage, first to hit hard is the high end, sophisticated and classy industry which is our fashion sector.
Even a freshman economics student can easily deduct whilst conditions besetting depression the most affected are non-essential products. Well, who could afford clothing apparel costing a few thousand Dollars? You could just imagine dresses and its accessories reaching prices comparable to anywhere from 1-5 month basic salary of middle class working men.
Definitely only the upper echelon of society can purchase such items. Nevertheless I’m sure these individuals too have their own cost cutting to implement.
As shown by the schedules of shows unveiling new product line coupled with heavy orders, one can conclude even without their companies’ quarterly report business is still brisk.
It has been astonishing the way the fashion industry has reacted to the current economic downturn. It beat market analyst of gloomy days ahead for the trendy industry. And to make matters worse for those market pundits at Wall Street, a film on the life of top designer Coco Chanel was recently released. Now that is like adding insult to injury. How about an authentic Chanel handbag just to reminisce the good old bull run?
